Position Title: Police Officer

Starting Salary: $33 per hour

The City of Ouray (also known as the Switzerland of America) is seeking dedicated, responsible, and compassionate individuals to join our Police Department as Police Officers. As a Police Officer in Ouray, you will have the opportunity to serve a vibrant tourist-based community while ensuring safety and security in our picturesque mountain town.

Key Responsibilities:

· Enforce local, state, and federal laws within the city of Ouray.

· Respond to emergency calls and incidents, providing support in various situations.

· Investigate criminal activities, conduct interviews, and gather evidence.

· Provide public safety and community outreach through engagement and education.

· Write reports, maintain accurate records, and testify in court as needed.

· Collaborate with other law enforcement agencies and emergency responders.

Qualifications:

· High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in criminal justice or related field is preferred.

· Must be at least 21 years of age and possess a valid Colorado driver’s license.

· Must pass a background check, medical exam, and psychological evaluation.

· No prior felony convictions or serious criminal history.

· Ability to work in a team-oriented environment and engage effectively with the community.

· Completion of a police academy or equivalent training is preferred but not required.

Compensation & Benefits:

· Starting salary of $33 per hour for certified applicants , with opportunities for overtime.
