Job Summary
The
Biomedical Research Center in West Jefferson, OH
is seeking an
In-Vitro Assay/Microbiology Technician
to provide technical support for standard and complex in-vitro assays, including
PCR, ELISA, and cell-based assays . This role includes working
Monday through Friday , with occasional overtime on nights, weekends, and holidays.
Major Responsibilities
Technical
Work with hazardous biological/toxic materials in
BSL-2 and BSL-3
laboratories.
Conduct assays on samples from
in vivo
studies and human clinical samples, including
bacterial enumeration, viral assays, ELISA, PCR, nucleic acid isolation, and flow cytometry .
Perform routine
blood and tissue processing
and reagent preparation.
Contribute to the
development and validation
of equipment and biological assays.
Perform
dilutions and mathematical calculations .
Decontaminate equipment and materials.
Maintain
mammalian, viral, and bacterial cell cultures .
Equipment & Laboratory Maintenance
Act as
lab technical point of contact .
Maintain
laboratory cleanliness and organization .
Manage
supply inventory, ordering, and receipt .
Handle
waste management, autoclave operation, and decontamination preparation .
Operate equipment to ensure
high-quality data production .
Perform routine
maintenance and calibration
of equipment.
Use
electronic databases
for sample tracking.
Operate computer programs and perform
data manipulation in spreadsheets .
Set up, validate, and operate
laboratory equipment and software .
Documentation, Compliance & Safety
Read and adhere to
SOPs, methods, and facility guidelines .
Perform
quality control and technical review
of data.
Create and maintain
study files
according to SOPs, protocols, and client specifications.
Report deviations and prepare
deviation reports .
Adhere to
all laboratory safety requirements .
Leadership & Teamwork
Train and guide
less experienced staff .
Serve as
technical co-lead
on study portions.
Work
independently and efficiently
within a team environment.
Analysis & Functional Tasks
Recognize deviations and
perform routine assignments .
Verify
accuracy and applicability
of project work.
Make
recommendations
and complete tasks with limited discretion.
Conduct
standard and non-standard
tasks under supervision.
Keep
supervisor informed
on work status.
Required Qualifications
Associate degree
in microbiology/molecular biology plus
1 year of experience , or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Strong
written and oral communication skills .
U.S. Citizenship required.
Security & Compliance Requirements
Ability to obtain and maintain:
Certification in the Biological Suitability Assessment Program (BSAP)
DoJ Security Risk Assessment (SRA) approval
CDC approval to work with BSAT material
Willingness to:
• Work in
BSL-2 and BSL-3 environments
and wear
appropriate respiratory protection .
• Be immunized with
FDA-licensed vaccines and Investigational New Drugs (INDs) .
• Participate in
random drug screening .
• Ability to
respond to alarms and emergency situations .
•
Sufficient medical fitness
to work in a lab while wearing respiratory equipment.
• Availability to work
night, weekend, and holiday hours .
