Job Title: Intermediate Architectural Designer

Role Overview

As an intermediate architectural designer, you will work directly with the client (if applicable), governing agencies, all consultants and other team members to deliver projects on time and within budget. The ideal candidate will strike a balance between design and technical solutions to keep the project on track. You must possess excellent time management and proactively manage project details and teammates assigned to your project.

Key Job Functions

  • You will be managing multiple project types across multiple jurisdictions. We expect you to be able to lead and own everything from napkin sketch feasibility study, to pulling a permit.
  • Reporting directly to the VP of Design, you will lead a rapidly growing team with plans to continue to expand in size over the coming year.
  • This role offers a unique opportunity to be at the forefront of real estate development while balancing the challenges of maintaining high-velocity product delivery.
  • Manage and coordinate multiple project efforts, administrative and technical, to ensure the most efficient and cost-effective execution of assigned projects through all phases of development, including Schematic Design, Design Development, Construction Documents, and Construction Administration.
  • Serve as primary contact liaison to bring the real estate development strategy's requirements schedule, budgets, and scope of work to completion.
  • Provide oversight and monitor the work of less experienced staff, providing empathetic mentorship to foster their professional development.
  • Ensure that the project conforms to the contractual agreement the firm has made with the client and in accordance with company quality standards and code requirements.
  • Meaningfully invest in a culture of belonging, equity, and impact.

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Residential architecture experience (SFD, SFR, ADUs, SB9, ATT TH, PUDs, Master Planned Communities)
  • Experience managing direct reports and leading coordination meetings
  • Ability to work on multiple projects and maintain effective communication and quality control.
  • Strong ability to strategically plan
  • Intermediate proficiency with the following software:
  • Revit including Dynamo
  • AutoCAD
  • Excel
  • Rhino including Grasshopper
  • Netsuite (bonus)
  • Familiarity with project and team management tools such as: Lark, Asana, Monday, Jira (bonus)

Required Experience and Education

  • Minimum of 2 years industry experience ideally in detached single family residential
  • 5-year Architectural degree and/or combination of required education and experience.
  • Licensed Architect in CA (Preferred).
  • Advanced understanding of building codes, including national and state local codes.
  • In-depth knowledge of various product types, code requirements, and construction practices and how to apply, detail, and specify them.
